I never thought a whole lot about this photo when we took it on a cloudy day in 2015. This building, however, is very unique and the next time I visit London I vow to go to the top of it and view all of London.
I read about this building after I read a James Patterson novel where the climax of the book took place on the observation floor of The Shard. I began reading and the more I read, the more I wanted to know. I asked two friends who lived within traveling distance of this landmark whether they had been to the top of it. Neither had been inside it and neither showed much interest in it.
The Shard is home to a variety of tenants. A section of it is reserved for private residences. It also has the Shangri-La Hotel, a variety of restaurants and a variety of bars. Of course, it has quite a mix of commercial tenants and even a medical outpatient clinic.
What I want to visit is the attraction named The View from The Shard. The View from The Shard occupies levels 68 through 72 of the building, not counting the ground-floor gift shop. From up here it is said one can see up to 40 miles away. You can even take in the view while in the public toilets if you like and that high up there is little chance that anyone from the ground would see you doing your business.
I found a number of interesting videos about the view from the top of The Shard. I’ll share one unique one here. As I said, you can get a view of London from the public toilet and this URL points to a very short video showing this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=10lol4TYH0A
For more videos, just go to YouTube and look at the many videos on this building.
Oh, what a lovely building! I love going up in tall skyscrapers to enjoy the view. We’re planning a trip to London next year. This building will definitely be on the itinerary!

I also may go to London next year. I have friends just north of London, where I lived a while, and my wife has a friend in west London. I hope to get my blogging off to a better start now. I was tiedup with a number of other things that I just could not avoid.
